Space feels disorienting [Suggestion]

Hello fellow engineers,

First off, a big thank you to the developers for delivering such a fantastic DLC. It’s been an exciting addition to the Factorio experience!

While exploring space, I noticed that the background visuals — mainly stars and asteroids — can feel a bit disorienting. There’s also an issue where, if conditions on the destination planet are met, the ship may not stop as expected. This often goes unnoticed unless you manually check the ship’s trip info panel.

I’d like to suggest a couple of improvements:
  • Always display the trip info and progress bar for the selected ship, so navigation is easier to track.
  • Show the nearby planet in the background to reflect the ship’s position. For example, if the ship is orbiting Navius, Navius should appear in the background. If it’s en route to Gleba, the visual should show the approach. This would align with the immersive graphics style Factorio is known for and help keep navigation clearer.
I believe these changes would significantly improve the spaceflight experience by making it more intuitive and visually engaging.

Thanks again for the incredible work on Space Age!
