[2.0.8] Crash when hovering over electricity production statistics, Fully Vanilla
Posted: Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:47 pm
tl;dr: My unmodded game crashed when hovering over non-power generating steam turbines in the electricity production statistics menu after opening the electricity statistics by clicking on a medium electric pole after turning on a 4 reactor 96 steam turbine nuclear power plant.
I do not have space age and this all took place on Nauvis on a world with no mods (I have mods installed on my game but they are all disabled on this world)
Exact Steps I did:
1. I built a 96 turbine 4 reactor nuclear plant very similar to the one shown in this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comme ... difficult/
2. I turned on the power plant by inserting fuel onto the belts and the reactors all picked up the fuel and started heating up.
3. As the temperature heated up, crucially before any power generation had started (All 96 turbines produced 0W as there was no steam being produced because the heat exchangers were not at a high enough temperature), I opened up the electricity statistics by clicking on a medium electric pole that was connected to the nuclear plant.
4. In the statistics menu I hovered the cursor over the 96 turbines producing 0W in the energy producion statistics, this caused the crash.
5. The game froze for about a second before crashing with the standard error "Unexpected error occured" with the option to open the folder with the data of the crash and asking to post the error on the forums.
I have reproduced this crash 3 times, starting from step 3, and it has crashed every time by following the steps, notably the crash does not occur until you hover over the 96 turbines, on my initial crash I followed all the steps above (from the start of step 1) without saving or quiting once (luckily I had an autosave 2min before the crash). The system temperatures of the nuclear power plant were at around 350 to 450 degrees C on all 3 crashes, below the 500 degree requirement for heat exchangers to create steam.
I have attached the world save ("tree farm.zip"), and the memory dump and log file of the most recent crash attempt ("factorio-dump-current.dmp") and ("factorio-current.log") respectively.
Hopefully this is an easy fix and thank you in advance for looking into this.
