Space Age : Not possible to connect a copper wire to a powerpole

With the space age update installed i am not able to connect a wire manually to a powerpole.
SHIFT-left clicking does remove all the wires from the powerpole, but it is not possible to manually cable the powerpole again.
The power interface window pops up when you click the powerpole holding wire in the hand.

The "copper cable" item is no longer used for this purpose. Instead, use the "copper wire" shortcut on the shortcut bar.

Since 2.0 you no longer need actual item to do this - instead use the tool (either click the icon, or Alt+C shortcut on default setting). (see Raiguard's comment)
Other possible problem might be, if the pole already has its connection limit of connections (5 in vanilla).
If neither of these solves your issue, could you please provide a save?
