show end of train differently in train outline

TL;DR
When showing the train outline while hovering over a signal or train stop or placing the same number the wagons and highlight the end of a train.

What ?
In the settings one can set how many wagons the train outline should show. This can be set to the length of ones trains (if short enough). The outline should indicate the end of the train in a different color or different stroke. Each outline should also have a little number counting up.

Every 5th wagon could also be highlighted, or maybe half the length. I frequently build stations twice the train length so there is space for one train to unload and a second to queue up. Having an indicator for 1x and 2x train length would be great.
Why ?
When placing signals or trains stops one often wants to place them one train length apart. But that means counting the outlines to see if the right amount of space has been achieved after the previous signal. Since the outline stops at the previous signal there is no way to see that the outline is fully shown and the right length.

So when building rails one constantly goes 1..2..3..4..5..6 over and over.

This would be nice, but would be a second/fallback choice for me after this one: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64863

My understanding was that that thread was about marking the signals, not the train outlines. Both are valuable I think.

But it gives me a further idea: add a little number to each outline so it's easy to see which number each wagon is.

Correct. If working with a long enough of a train, this would be useful as you wouldn't need to zoom out in an effort to keep the end visible.
