After playing a world for a while, I like to go through old saves to see how my factory has grown.
I thought it would be nice to have automatic snapshots, like every 15min.
You could just save every 15 minutes manually but this could be improved like follows:

• Automated snapshot taking
• Taking a screenshot (like mapshot) to each save
• Diffing of the saves and screenshots for smaller size (Especially since terrain shouldn't change too much)
• Having an integrated zoomable screenshot viewer gives the ability to scroll through the timeline without having to reload the save completely
• Grouping of the snapshots inside a single file instead of all separate saves

Would be a lot easier to view through the changes the factory went through, while still having the ability to load any snapshot directly.

Probably will never get implemented, still wanted to put it out there.

Yes, this was one of the inspirations for this post. But it doesn't include saves, needs to be triggered manually and needs an external tool to create and view.
What I mean is an integrated, automatic feature.
