I have a situation where when i have a huge artillery train (12+ wagons) and it is located far from spawn, when i manually shoot the artillery, i use the artillery targeting remote.

To shoot, i open the map and i use the left mouse button, but my tendecy is to just spam click an alien base (maybe 40-50 shots per base) and there is slight annoyance, that the map moves around when i do it. Maybe add an optional shooting key, so that i can spam that key and shoot rather than spam the mouse button which also moves the map around. Thanks.

You could remap the "move map" from left mouse to something else (eg, right mouse, or middle mouse)

It would be nice if one could select an area and have the artillery target all nests in the area instead of having to click for each shot.

Expand the area of automatic shooting and you will be happy.

There is a very good mod that does this.
Adds 3 new controllers. I never use 1st and 3rd. The 2nd controller selects the area. Technology is very expensive. I configured it from notepad. (I did it cheap) Definitely a must have in vanilla.
