I just downloaded factorio on steam, getting extremely long load times (10-20 minutes). This feels like it shouldn't be happening as the graphics are relatively lightweight. I have a modern M.2 SSD and am running win 10, 16 GB of ram.

Any ideas?

Could you post your logs ? There should be a post in this very subforum explaining what to provide in order to help those who wish to help you.

I see this in your log : I'm not sure what it means, but there might be hints of something wrong.
Like : is it possible that it takes your computer almost 1000 seconds (around 15 minutes) to sync with Steam ?

That is just the time between the last automatic thing in the log (game load) and the first manual thing (save load) - nothing should be happening here, the game should be fully loaded.
