Yes, but then why would you spend so much time and effor building a rocket that gets you back off that planet?
Or maybe you actually landed in a world of bureaucrats and tax collectors and are now like “Nope!” and trying to get to some other planet – one without oversalivating bureaucrats or tax collectors with overbite.

So what's the difference between bureaucrats and worms?
One is a nasty, life sucking, acid spitting creature and the other is just part of a fun game!

It's not like governments or intelligence agencies have ever tried to influence the entertainment industry.
Oh, wait, they have.

This is great. I'm guessing it'd be trivial to make a mod that replaces the word 'biter' with 'eurocrat'. I might do that later.

Love my drones.

Wow, this friday facts is really disgusting. Everyone pays taxes, all taxes go to things people disagree with. Not saying don't get political and do something about it, I'm saying the official updates are a bad place for this.
Where I live, more than HALF of all taxes goes to killing brown people with absolutely no way of defending themselves in wars that less than 10 of our citizens approve of. I don't complain about it on the forums and especially not in a press release style update to ALL OF MY CUSTOMERS. DERP. Imagine I'm talking to my customer at work and notice he has a "I <3 money for arts to big corporations" It would be a really bad move to tell him that such policies will lead to "slavery" even if I deeply believe thatthis is true. There are actual slaves on today's earth, they would like you to stop pretending you somehow have it as hard as they do.
Leave us alone with your political B/S please. I understand that it is very relevant to you and upsets you and I'm sorry your upset. Go post about it in off topic if you really have to, or at the very least have the decency to leave us out of it.
I know many people are going to jump on this and start arguing the political points about this topic and wax poetic about how it is is just such a big injustice we MUST talk about it and raise awareness and blah blah blah, this is exactly what I want to avoid. I actually agree with the devs opinion, I am just mortified disgusted and confused why they would bring deep political crash into such a nice place of gaming and risk alienating the other half of your audience that voted for and supports putting money towards the arts. Please try to clean it up in the future and you may even consider editing some of the language that maybe insults half of your fandom that has a different opinion than your own. (The people who disagree with us are not in support of SLAVERY, that is ridiculously of you not to understand that maybe it insults people to call the unfair parts of socialist cash-injections for art projects to be some kind of "Road to Slavery" or some crap)
Might as well argue about woman's rights, THERE ARE NO (human) FEMALES IN FACTORIO OMG SEXISM. But I liked it better when we talked about games or modding, and most people had enough tact and discipline not to start an abortion debate or argue pro or con for money in the arts. Thank you for reading this rant.
Political nightmare crapstorm in 3...2...1...

It was kind of weird, but I'm glad kovarex made himself heard. That's a luxury that indie developers get and peons/CEOs at large companies i.e. Rockstar don't. Either nobody cares or too much is at stake. I like it when there's this basic human interaction going on from the dev's side, just voicing their completely honest opinions on things that may be vaguely or even not at all related to their jobs.
I think the biggest issue of this FFF in particular comes from there being not much to comment on in terms of development, with some really big but mostly unrelated trivia on the reality of development thrown in. This formula is used in all FFFs, we know we can expect to hear stuff like "it's pretty damn hot here atm" or "we bought a bunch of stuff for the office" and mostly people don't mind. But this time "the trivia" was so potent it stole the spotlight and there's kind of nothing else to discuss

That's a ton of salt with very little sauce to put it on, if you catch my drift.
I honestly think this stuff would fly if you decided to delay it for when Steam greenlight announcement. It'd be so much less significant next to it and while people would notice and understand the message, nobody would feel the need to discuss it and ruin the atmosphere in here.
/I'm still partial to my theory that kovarex just really wants a flamewar and this was deliberate. Can't fool me, I've seen that, games.cz interview. "Člověk si sedne a dívá se jak se tam hádaj" No jo, no jo

That took up half the text in this FFF had there been something bigger like how circuits would interact with something new then it'd be less blatant

Please at least leave the word slavery out of it, can we at least agree that the horrors of real modern day slavery are worse than subsidizing arts?
I would agree if ALL art was funded by the government it would be a travesty, but as long as government funding is only subsidizing less than %1 of all money that goes towards the arts I don't really care or feel that the playing field is tilted enough to justify the word SLAVERY.
Think about all the tax money that kills people, money that is wasted by incompetence, embezzled, straight up lost, etc. I know that a bunch of corrupt bureaucrats in the EU are wasting money on keeping old dead artforms alive that have little place in the modern world, but Even if those Bureaucrats are wasting the money on large video game projects that could easily harness their own funders, at least it is going to video games? I object to the whole thing, I just object ten times as much to the
crap I read about slavery today.
I agree the EU wasted the money on projects and companies that probably didn't even need it but at least they didn't build another Ballet school that will churn out specialized dancers in a field with little to no work outside of the hyper-elite sector.
I mean for the love of god forget the politics some of us live in countries where slavery is kind of a touchy topic considering our grandfathers were slaves and our fathers were banned from attending college, please understand that maybe you made a misstep even though I f*cking love you devs deeply, you are acting foolish and being blatantly offensive with that. Shame. SHAME.

Hence the subtitle reads "The way to slavery" rather than "WAKE UP SHEEPLE! WE'RE ALL SLAVES!"

We have agreed that official Factorio channels are not the place to discuss political issues and our political views. So this was the last one.

I was talking with a guy in a pub yesterday and when we get to the topic what we do, I told him that I do a computer game. He asked me what is the name of it, and when I told him it is Factorio he couldn't believe me. He actually knew it, he played it from the alpha release and he apparently really liked it. I didn't expect at all that some stranger would know the game. This was really a nice confirmation, that the sales and forum posts are probably real people playing the game, not just some numbers in a database and I won't lie to you, the experience is nice

i bet two copies of factorio that this experience is not better than paragliding

... and yes: players are real people .... and sometimes they can fly ... like you and me!

Strange reality-check-warning stuff last friday facts, some of it not even close to true, and way too political. I even bet Factorio didn't apply for the development grant like the other 31 companies from all around Europe did.
Let's hope for less of that in this weeks Friday Facts.
