Never used in 2,4k hours of play and never missed it!

So, I've tried to replicate this... and I don't seem to be able to ?
And yet there are a lot of people in this thread seemingly angry (?) about it ?!?

Try building 4 parallel lanes without releasing mouse.

Ah, right, of course I couldn't reproduce it if the game doesn't allow it to you any more !
Going back to 1.1, these are the options :

Yeah, after trying it out, I can see how some players could find this useful...
With the first option off (which also disables the 2nd one), in 1.1, clicking and hovering over multiple parallel tiles side by side still places belts :
And also why I never felt the need to : I typically don't need to place 3+ belts side-by-side until late game, at which point conbots are a better option.
(And with 1-2 belts — holding direction player movement key (while walking on the belt if in the right direction) while holding the mouse button to place it — is probably better anyway.)

I forgot version rollback was a thing, thanks whoever mentioned that.
Love that the devs are completely ignoring this thread (no I don't). This was an option. The cool thing about options is they give you flexibility and let people play the game they way they want to.
Devs, you're being like Apple and that is *not* a compliment.

Good news fellow sideways belt draggers, the option has been added back in! I almost missed it until it was mentioned in the discord.
Thank you Wube! I was a little worried when it was first removed but I should have known. It's not easy to hold onto the "Best Dev Ever" but you guys really are
Silently removed, silently added back. There is a certain logic to it.
Now I can play 2.0.

I would still prefer having both options... lock to straight lines but without the "smart" building is the sweet spot I like, and allows things like doing corners in map view from a long ways away that line up with targets.

See the mod posted in this thread that removes associated underground belts from belt prototypes.
