That achievement isn't about crafting items at all, but rather using blueprints or ghosts to get construction robots to place more entities (not machines) than the player has placed manually.

"Produce more items using factories than manually" wouldn't be much point as mid game factories should really be all automated production and you'll notice there are already 12 Mass production type achievements (3 each of iron, green, red and blue circuits) and Lazy bastard which forces you to handcraft less than 111 items before winning the game.

Is that an actual suggestion for an achievement (1000 would be way too high imo and would just be a grind of getting killed by train repeatedly) or should I move it to the Videos showcase section?

If not an achievement then definitely some form of global counter.

An achievement. Ok maybe 1000 train deaths is a tad high but hey, if Xterminator can do it, anyone can :=)

Please explain. there is no achievement in factorio for this, just death by 1 train.

Factorio achievements:
Trans factorio express Have a Train plans a path 1000 tiles long.
Watch your step Get killed by moving Locomotive.

New achievements for 0.15

Suggestions for new achievements based on changes made in 0.15

Lazy marathon: lazy bastard using the marathon settings
Deadly bastard: lazy bastard using death world settings
(Accounting for more expensive recipes of course)

Dropping the bomb: use a Atomic bomb.
To kill a fly with a sledgehammer: kill only one bitter with an Atomic bomb

Any thoughts? What other ideas do people have for new achievements?

Alternately, "No Kill Like Overkill".

To be honest, we could actually do with a sticky for 'Achievement Suggestions', let the Devs pick from the most practical/ingenious/well polished proposals.

Heres a few of my own;
  • We Have the Technology - Automate High Tech Science Packs
  • To Boldly Go... - Research 5 Repeatable Research Topics using Science Research Packs
  • E=MC2 - Construct a functional Nuclear Reactor setup. (~990c, ~40mw Power Satisfaction from Turbines)
  • Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. - Craft, and fire, an Atomic Bomb
  • No road like the Slow Road - Launch a Rocket without building any Rails
  • Genocide - Achieve over 500,000 combined Biter kills in a single game.

"My Precious" - Produce at least x units of Uranium-235 per hour.

Beltless Wonder: Finish the game without placing any transport belts.
Bucket Brigade: Make a chain of inserters and chests with at least a dozen of each.
Far Off Riches: Set up a mining drill on a far off ore patch with at least 3M ore under the drill. (You need to make a very long trip on a Default world to find this, but while mucking around on a sandbox map, I did find patches with over 250k per tile, which comes out to ~6.25M for a drill.)

Automate Everything: Craft at least 5 of everything using assembling machines.

Add achievements for completing marathon, death world etc.

For added sense of accomplishment, please add steam achievements for launching rocket in various difficulty modes.

Thank you!

Sure, why not. But I'd rather that they first implement a warning system that alerts you when a particular activity will render an achievement unobtainable. I am annoyed that I got stiffed out of something difficult I could have obtained if I had known not to experiment with something for 5 minutes.

I have a much more specific suggestion as well: Adjust the limit for Lazy Bastard dynamically based on the recipe cost difficulty settings. If it is set to allow a constant ten crafts above the theoretical minimum, it would get harder on higher difficulty settings. By the way, ShySkream has modded in a static adjustment for the Marathon preset.

Yeah, not sure I'll ever try for this achievement because the game makes it so easy for you to fail. No warning system at all, so playing late one night and accidentally clicking to craft something manually without realizing it can undo your 30 hour attempt. Wouldn't it be nice to have a popup: "Warning: This action will cause you to be unable to complete achievement X" and then you can click "Do it anyway" or "Cancel action"?

You can track achievements, and revert to last auto-save if you made a mistake.
Achievement tailored for harder difficulty make sense, even if il will make me literally unable to do them, because even after maybe 5 or 600 hours playing Factorio, I'm still very bad at it XD

I know about achievement tracking, but will the achievement disappear from tracking if you accidentally disabled it?
