hey in 0.16 theres a bug where if you open the inventory of a modular power armour suit it comes up with a lua error and takes you back to the title screen

Does it happen every time?
Once I get around to updating the mod that would be good info to have. I'm not going to update it for Factorio 0.16 though, you have to jump onto Factorio 0.17 to get the fixes. But 0.17 might become stable before I am done updating the mod though...

(I have mod contributor privileges and can update the mod on the portal)

Yes, it happens every time I do it. I'm building a 0.16 factory atm, and I don't plan to update until I've had all of my fun with 0.16, which will be quite a while.
