this setup was just a place holder plus my sulfuric acid and lubricant are going to travel down my main bus as well

Yeah, I was producing 12k/min Iron Plates and it wasn't enough.

As the demand increases, I will upgrade my belts from yellow to red to blue as needed, but once this number of blue belt lanes are not enough then I have to come up with other ideas. I usually end up just making another bus somewhere else or de-centralize the entire thing.
If you're to the point that two blue belts in parallel aren't enough, you're usually to the point where you're railing in the goods. My preferred solution at that point is to relocate my mass producing industries along the main rail, create a transfer post for both copper and iron (both smelted locally at the mines, but need to be compressed for longer trains that feed the industry). Coal and stone I use very little of - but those where needed are mined directly and sent with shorter trains to wherever those are needed. At that point the "main bus" just supports the legacy factory that does some research. The smelters just get replaced by a train station that runs the resources from the transfer stations back to main base. I rarely needed to expand my main bus to more then a single blue beltline (running the same resource on both sides of the belt, one for copper, one for iron). Basically, the rail becomes the main bus at that point :)
