Is "hd textures" one of them?

It's on Steam - just enable the "experimental" versions.

Factorio - properties - there the BETAS tab
why not an official release?
i get the idea behind "experimental", but its early access anyway?

Yes, but we still have stable and experimental releases.

Experimental are not verified to be more stable than the previous one. For example, the 0.12.25 contained horrible bug in the New hope campaign, that rendered all the saves made in the mission corrupted. Imagine something like this happening with all the saves in all games (very small change although, as it is covered by tests), lot of people wouldn't like it.

2-3 months is a possibility :)
I see...

*checks date of the 0.12.0 release.... July 17, 2015*
*checks todays date...*

...
*deep sigh* Well, do what you have to do.

Wow, almost a year for a release, that is quite a lot!
The truth is, that every release tends to be bigger than the previous one.

Yeah, well, as someone who only plays singleplayer it has been meager time for even longer than that :)
But like I said, you guys do what you have to do. I'll wait patiently, as I always have.

I think it's also in part that you've spent the last 4 months or so playing with changes for steam, and compatabillity and the like. if it wasn't for this, you'd proabably be at least a couple of months ahead of where you are now with the 0.13 release.

Maybe, but don't get me wrong, we already spent a lot of work on 0.13 and a lot of features are done and ready there, enough to make 0.13 bigger than 0.12 already.

Can we hope for some surprise features in 0.13 - aka ones that won't be precedeed by fff ?

Probably not, it is not so easy to come up with everything every week, especially if you spent most of the time by fixing bugs :)

You could always do FFFs about the bugs you've been squashing :D
I know I'll be interested in hearing some more about it.

Strange as it sounds, me too. I mean, you know I'm a modder, but I'm a programmer too, and I might enjoy hearing/reading about some interesting solutions to programming problems.

The age of empires post about your multiplayer problem for example was a really nice read, expecially since you linked to a few other nice written blogs about the problem ^^
