This way the import platforms can remain in orbit until an item reaches zero, and the science platform can remain over Nauvis until the science reaches zero.

For the import platforms I use a constant combinator with each desired import item -1 to a decider and send to platform wire that says each = -1 out leftarrow 1, then a wait condition that says leftarrow > 0 and inactivity 30 seconds.

niiiice . gonna borrow this, very similar setup going, though just started gearing up for it on a mega level

[snip}

All of my planets except Aquilo have two rocket silos, so they can launch up to 4 rockets to a platform very quickly. Nauvis has 4 silos, letting it volley up to 8 rockets in about 30 seconds.

{snip]
had to place down 12 silos on vulcanus and nauvis to handle the throughput. about to place another 2 on fulgora. have 3 or 4 there now. 2 on aquilo, 2 or 4 on gleba, needs more there too, 4k science/trip, defo needed.

make one of those asteroid processing ships, it helped unlock some ledgie ores, like iron. tier up some basic things like ASMs, and recyclers and such it'll help. also quality grinding will help get the higher tier mats

  • How do you fill them? Via "Automatic requests from space platforms"? Or via Requestor Chests, micro-managing what is sent? (I had a setup where I switched via Constant Combinator what shall be loaded in the array) - or else?
  • How many Silos do you think are required for easy playthrough (i.e. not talking about mega-factories... more like 60 SPM)?
  • Do you have one extra Silo dedicated for launching yourself into space or do you use the other silos inbetween?
  • Do you try to have optimal Rocket launches or do you also regularly do rocket launches with only part of capacity used?
  • Do you wire your rocket silos, "reading contents" or "reading orbital requests"?
  • I use automatic requests from space platforms, but I also use a buffer chest with the requests set to add the requests to the logistics network.I
  • 60 SPM is a lot for me, since I don't make factories like that. I have 4 rocket silos though, so maybe around 50?
  • Nope, I don't have an additional passenger silo. I do sometimes disable automatic requests from space platforms in order to get up in times of high rocket demand.
  • I believe this question was meant for the people who don't use automatic requests from space platforms enabled, but yes, I try to have optimal rocket launches. (because I have no control otherwise)
  • I wire 1 of my rocket silos up to my circuit network, in "reading orbital requests" mode. I don't understand why anyone would use the "reading contents" mode, myself.
