Its fine as is. The game doesn't need safety bumpers for stuff like this, if anything it makes things a bit more exciting. Its basically 2.0 of dodging trains before you get your mech suit lol. Don't stand next to the landing zone, and run away from it if you see cargo pods dropping down if you're not wearing a few shields. Thats it.

You dont get it.

It was my first time on Planet. And i spawned and instant dead. There is nothing to prevent this from happening? I sent stuff down, then i was spawning clicking w and then i died.

Oh, you mean you died as soon as you landed? Yeah that should be fixed.
If you died because you previously died and respawned just as a pod was landing, that's just bad luck, similarly to respawning in the path of a train, except you aren't in control of where the pods land...

Descending cargo pods could create crosshairs (similar to map ping / artillery target ones) in their target location.
That would give a warning, if you're in the planet view, at least.

This wouldn't solve multiplayer when multiple players have scheduled their planet drop and are launched at the same time.
Spreading them temporally might be not user-friendly, having to wait (potentially) some minutes to drop to planet.
Spreading them spatially risks reintroducing 117461 Fulgora initial landing: stuck on mesa / 117408 Stuck on vulcanus. Unless some extra pathfinding is done to make sure the target is walkable to [0,0].

I tried to explain it not in great detail. I was going first on planet and was sending some stuff beforehand... while first entering planet.. death... its not a big problem because you can just keep doing what youve done, but its not the factorio way to kill the player without "warning"...
