For me, it seems every release of Factorio breaks all my mods by game standards. And yes 2.0 broke way more then what seems normal, to be fair I have not checked in the last few days maybe I do that before I finish this post. Checked, and more updates, and more fixed, but Long Reach is still 1.1

Now when I added Long Reach after watching a YouTube video I never really noticed any change but now after many 2.0 runs I notice how much I used to use Long Reach and god I miss that mod. I know this is kind of Off-topic, sorry.

That's to be expected on any major release, no matter the game.

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/far-reach
It became partly redundant with the new map view in 2.0. Still useful because when not in map view, the unlimited reach is missed

If Space Age doesn't appeal to you I recommend staying at 1.1. Biggest reason is the real fluid system.

Maybe you could go through every FFF from the announcement of Space Age to release of Space Age and read them all like I did so you know what the changes are (as a bonus, you can find out whether buying the Space Age DLC is worth it) including the QoL ones which will come in the base game (2.0 update) such as 16-directional straight rails.
