Some points that I would like to see:
- Space production should not be a one-way-street, where you just ship things to orbit. You should also be able to mine asteroids and send materials back to the planet. It would be nice if there were some materials that you can only aquire in space.
- Make a distinction between normal production and zero-g-production. So complex systems could need parts that can only be assembled in space together with parts that can only be assembled on ground. Shipping stuff back and forth would obviously require a lot of fuel and some spaceport logistics.
- It would be nice if stuff in space would get a spacy feeling, like converting belts to transport tubes.
- In space there is obviously no pollution as you have it on ground. Instead it would be nice if dense platform systems generate heat that you have to move to heat sinks on the outside of the platform or risk overheating the systems (lowering production speed)
- make space transportation a topic. For close platforms, you could build a rail-like structure and use tube trains. For longer distances you need rockets that consume fuel (which has to be provided from the ground base) and Ion drives when you have the advanced space techs.
