Tips to connect in multiplayer.

Post by Nondre »

All the effort i have put into connecting to this game i feel i should share a few things.
Generally when the map is huuuuuuge, I will have a single point from which to kill power.
Kill said power.
Allow all the drones to settle.
Clear your logistics queue on your inventory.
Disable your autosave. you can turn it back on, once everyones in.
Players should log in ONE at a time.
once all of that is established, it lets me connect. With multiple people, bumping up the latency generally helps.
Another thing i have been doing is plugging my computer directly into the modem.
Any other advice?
If this is in the wrong spot on the forum i apologize.

Killing all the biters on a map helps with a lot of the desync issues at login. You do can do this with the command:

Code: Select all

/c game.killallenemies()
They will instantly respawn though so if you have biters next to your base make sure the person is ready to connect before issuing the command

Saving the game, and restarting the program may be a small help as well. I have currently an 80+ hour save, and it does get a bit sluggish if you have made major modifications to the map.
