Biter should glow when given the light attribute

Post by Fansana »

Biters won't glow when given the light attribute, biters don't seems to be affected by the light attribute at all which I find kinda sad.
I've tried to use different forms non of them seems to work. If this feature exists I couldn't find it anywhere if it doesn't I would like to request it.

Hmm... you want bioluminescent nuclear biters?

Point source, cone, special light mask or beyond?

The nice thing about lighting effects is that most of the heavy lifting can be done by video card so it's not a major burden on UPS.

Nuclear biters! But it must be an option for bad computers performance.

It would be nice to have glow (glow_always, glow_when_working, glow_when_powered) for all entities. And glow_mask, for surfaces, that must have always same bright.

I should think that would be obvious.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

yes, yes, yes and yes.

The aliens could itself glow. Their eyes could also glow kind of like headlights. There could be a special alien that has a kind of lantern growing out of its back or head to light the way for other aliens around it. Lot's of cool possibilities.

On that note: There could be aliens that seek light and aliens that avoid light, sneaking around your back in the dark and then attack.

I want Biter candles when flamethrowers are liberally applied!

Glow in the dark Biters for those poor unfortunate soulless that suvive a nuclear strike would also be neat... Or maybe glow in the dark suicide bomber biters? Banelings Biterlings to assail the walls and do some AOE damage on death? Interesting idea and doesn't cost all that much more UPS I wager, since it's just an ondeath trigger.

Nah... please don't.

Makes me remember how annoying those little f*ckers were initially in Diablo:

Any report on this?
I mean it has been a couple months now and there hasn't been an update to enable this.

The next major update, which will add new features, will be version 0.17, which will likely be released in a few months.

However, there are thousands of feature requests. Therefore, the developers will only be able to incorporate a small percentage of these feature requests into the game. For this reason, it is, in my opinion, unlikely (but possible) that this feature will be included in version 0.17. However, I hope that Factorio will continue to be developed even after 1.0 is released, so that there still will be many features added into the game.

The best way to find out about upcoming features is to read the official Factorio blog, which contains a new article every week (Factorio Friday Facts).
