Hi! I’m buying Factorio on Switch 2 and I’ll be playing with friends on PC. Does the game have built-in voice chat for multiplayer, or do we need to use something like Discord?

There is no voice chat in game.

As Loewchen says, there is no built-in voice chat in Factorio. You would need to use something else. Discord is likely the best way to go.

(However, if both you and a friend were to both be on Switch 2, you can very easily use GameChat to voice chat while playing Factorio. GameChat works no matter what you are playing or even no matter what you are doing on your Switch 2 as long as it is on and connected to the internet. You can use GameChat as a voice call and the built in microphone is actually pretty good and has fairly good voice isolation. But you’ll also have the option to share each other’s screen which could be very useful in a game like Factorio. That’s what I would use if it was an option. But probably not.)

There are also things called "telephones" that allow people to talk to each other, too. And those don't even eat up any of your Internet connection!
