[2.0.73] Crash on start

Just installed Factorio via steam. When I start it I see the changelog, then after a few seconds it crashes and I get the popup with the message that is repeated below in the logs:
- Pop_OS 24.04 (Wayland)
- Ultrawide screen 5120x1440
- HDR
- The background of the changelog is frozen, but iirc this should be moving using the real game engine. So I'm thinking that is what is crashing
- This is a fresh install, no mods
I know my way around Linux and its terminal and am happy to assist in debugging in any way I can.
