Gleba!

My goodness! I have to say Gleba nearly broke me.
Up until this planet. You have not be negatively penalised for a less then optimised production design. Generally speaking on all the planets up until this one point you either a) you under produced a item it slowed down production times for that item and then ultimately affected your research times or b) you over produced an item which ensured an abundance of the item ensuring a smooth research time but you used more resources and you start to start to stockpile the excess.
Gleba throws this on to its head with the introduction of spoilage! Here you are penalised if you under and overproduce! As this is my first true play through I set a goal of maintaining a very modest 500spm. When I got to Gleba I made the terrible decision of trying trying to make the base at 500spm and it caused me some horrible headaches! To the point I nearly gave up.
My initial designs caused unforeseen bottle necks, which in turn lead to production delays which ultimately lead to mass spoilage! It was darn right disheartening haha!!
Then the real kicker came when I tried making the science and holy fuck, I nearly wiped my base out with those annoying alien eggs!
I considered moving my entire research to Gleba so I could avoid having to worry about spoilage in transportation but I realised that wasnt the way. A tighter production chain ensured that I have more then enough time to transport the science to Navius, move it from my space port, to my train logistics and deliver it to my research campus.
So I knuckled down, reduced my initial spm expectation to down to safely launching 1000 into a rocket and get it back to navius and fully consumed in research with it spoiling. To achieve that I broke down each aspect of the production chains, improved the designs, allowed for spoilage contingences and left plenty of room to allow for expansion.
I also
I initially thought that bots were the best solution for this but realised pretty quick that a all bot or a all belt approach was not the solution but rather a balance of the two gave me the best outcomes.
I still have a few tweaks to my base that are needed before I leave Gleba, I need a better defence perimeter but I have gotten the science on Gleba up to a sustainable 500spm.
Off to Aquilo tonight!
