Thank you! yes, I meant to have the inside of the building act as platforms. Really appreciate your support for this mod as well as willingness to make it work with others when possible!

It's done, I just push the commit that add a config to make factorissimo2 floor act as platform in my git repository. I intend to release a new version on sunday night but you can grab it on the repo if you want it now. The master branch is for 0.14 and experimental-0.15 for 0.15. I tested both and works. I also added a config option to block or unblock factorissimo2 buildings.
Factorissimo2 buildings are blocked by default, you can edit it in config.lua, buildingplatform.config.unrestrictMod, set factorissimo2 in the table to true if you want them to not be blocked
Factorissimo2 factory floor act as platform by default.

30-04-2017 - 1.0.7 (for 0.14) (commit 55abdb22c9) :
  • Added full French localization. I will maintain this one personally alongside the english one.
  • Placement of entity with collision_mask not set will no longer crash the game (#2)
  • Added possibility to set aliases for a particlar platform in addPlatform function. All tile that are aliases of a platform allow buildings that platform allow.
  • Added Factorissimo2 compatibility. All three factory, bulk pipes, circuit Input and output and the requester chest are affected by unrestrictMod.factorissimo2 config option. All blocked outside platform by default.
  • Added a config option to make factorissimo2 factory floor act as platform (factorissimo2FactoryAsPlatform). By default they act as platform. (#3)


30-04-2017 - 1.1.7 (for 0.15) (commit 5ad456e1a5) :
  • All 1.0.7 changes ported to 0.15.
  • Edited copyright mention to include 2017 year and no longer have ShadowTheAge name. He is still present in CREDITS.txt.
  • Transfered long range radar from building platform tweaks mod. Will only be active in this mod if the config for it is enabled AND building platform tweaks mod is not active.
  • Configuration is now done mostly using the new ingame option menu for mods. They all require a restart when you change them. They will have their default value when you update to this version, edit them before loading your save. Config that have not been moved to ingame option menu :
    • All mod blocking config (unrestrictMod entry in config.lua). Integrating them will make the option menu unnecessarily cluttered. They will be added in a later release.
    • disableOwnPlatform entry. This config is not for users, but for other mod to interact with mine. No need to add it ingame.
    • factorissimo2FactoryAsPlatform entry. As it's a mod specific config, it will be added alongside other mods specific config in a later release.

Plans from now :
  • - Bug-fixing when necessary.
    - Move mod specific config ingame. (Only display config of compatible mod detected, not all).
    - More platform generation
    - Better sprites (waiting for decals system mentionned in FFF167).
    - Mod own website.
Regarding localization, I someone want to add a localization for my mod in my mod, I can add it, just contact me.

Thanks for the update, and for adding Factorissimo2 compatibility! Playing with both mods now and is quite fun :) Now I just need KS Power and Angel's to update and my mod insanity will be complete.

Beware, last experimental (0.15.7) reset mod config, Redo your config before loading !

19-05-2017 - 1.0.8 (for 0.14) (commit dbf839f723) :
  • Changed how custom generation is handle. Now each custom generation is a single function which recieve a x and y coordinate and return the name of the tile it want to place here or nil otherwise.
  • Added "grid" custom generation. It will place square of platform with a config defined side length spaced by a number (config defined) of tile vertically and horizontally.

19-05-2017 - 1.1.8 (for 0.15) (commit e92e7f4937) :
  • All 1.0.8 changes ported to 0.15.
  • Not compatible for Factorio version under 0.15.10. (using the new "mods" global added in 0.15.10)
  • Config entries in ingame menu are now ordered as follow : crafting, misc, unrestrict, generation, mods.
  • Compatible mods are now detected during loading screen and only detected mods rules will be applied.
  • Mods config moved to ingame menu. Only detected (and active) mods will have their option listed.
  • Dropped Factorissimo (the first) compatibility as it have been discontinued by the author in favor of Factorissimo2.
  • "Reactors" and "AlertCombinator" compatibility are still present even though their mods are not 0.15 compatible.
  • The mod prefix for all element added to the game to avoid collision is now defined as a constant.

I just started using your mod 1.1.8 with Factorissimo2, but I just noticed I can place it's buildings anywhere even though I have that option turned off.

If I understand you problem, you have "Unrestrict Factorissimo2 mod" option unticked, but you can place them anywhere ?

I just test it and I have no problem, maybe another mod conflict. When you place a factorissimo building and hover your mouse on it. Under it's name, what mods are listed ? Only factorissimo2 > building-platform or another one with them ?

If you find that there is no more than the two I mention, I will need the list of the mod you used as well as the config for them to investigate.

To get the config list for the mods used : If you have factorio on steam, go into "%appdata%\Factorio" (type this in adresse bar), if you have standalone version, go into the folder where the game is located.

Inside you will find a "mod-settings.json" file, copy it's content here or attach the file to your reply. There is nothing personal inside, just the list of all config for mod you have.


If it is not to heavy, can you attach to your reply, the mods folder zipped ?

There's a mod called High Voltage which I tried to use in a platforms game.
I pushed on and got circuit networks plus electrical distribution 1 unlocked but it's impossible to continue. I went to hook up resource patches and realised that since there was no platform area close, I couldn't get power in.

The power box and transformer would need to be marked as exempt from the platform rule in order for this mod to work with platforms. I suspect the platforms author would need to to that so I'll crosspost in his thread.
If you feel like it, maybe you could put options in for his mod.

I don't have much time now, so I will continue to investigate later today when I got back, but I try creating a new game with all your mods and config and.... factorissimo2 building are blocked. Possible to have your save to see if it's not a script inside it that cause that problem ? Anyway, I will continue to investigate later today.

Sure, I will make custom rules for this mod. I will release it with the bugfix when I find the culprit.

23-05-2017 - 1.1.9 (for 0.15) (commit 7a463f8fb2) :
  • All 1.0.9 changes ported to 0.15.
  • Add compatibility with High Voltage mod, not blocked by default.
Known bug : Teleporter mod's beacon have a wrong bounding box on their right and down border resulting on a 1 tile gap between the building limit and the game detection collision so you can't place them at the far right or down side on platform. It's a Teleporter issue that I will report to the author once I finish release this new version of the mod. is reported here

Unless there is other bug report, I will work on the website so It will be a little while until next release.

I've noticed that the pair of bulk transfer pipes in Factorissimo are only allowed on the platform. As they are pipes it makes sense to allow them anywhere. This isn't a major problem, but it is annoying.

That's a design choice I made (explanation below). But I give yourself a solution at the end of the post.

You want to be able to place them outside platform and other people will think their are to powerfull and should be use only on platform. I can't make config that will please each and everyone. So I have defined that mod rule block all building or allow all building of a mod.

I also though about a config that when set to true, make plain unrestrict rules take precedence over mod config. In example, if you unblock roboport, block a mod buildings, but in the mod buildings there is roboport, it will be unblocked because all roboport are unblocked. Like that people can choose over blocking all mod building or block only those who match plain rules. Unfortunately the problem still rise as vanilla entity have sometime not the same purpose as modded entity of the same type.

We will take an other example to show that a config like that will not work everytime :

Take someone that play with building platform and factorissimo2. He want to have factory blocked (they are storage tank entity), bulk pipe unblocked (again storage tank entity), storage tank unblocked.
  • With the actual building platform mod : bulk transfer pipe blocked as part of factorissimo2, factory blocked too, storage tank unrestricted. He is not happy because bulk pipe are blocked.
  • With plain unrestrict rule taking precedence : bulk transfer pipe unblocked (as storage tank are not blocked), factory unblocked (as storage tank unblocked), storage tank unblocked, he is again not happy because he can place factory anywhere.
So I don't have a simple config that will work everywhere so I choose to make thing simple for user to understand, all mod building blocked or all building unblocked. The only thing I can do is giving advice for people that want to have more complex rules like you.

There are two main solution :
  • Create a little mod that have mine as dependency and make necessary call to the API function documentend in the first post to make rules as you prefer.
  • Edit my mod remove the part in mods-config/factorissimo2.lua that block bulk transfer pipe. Line 19 in 0.15 version of my mod change

Finally found a good way to play with platforms. Treat each platform (or group, if they are really close) as factory that have defined inputs and outputs. E.g. iron factory take Saphirite, Jivolite and provide Iron, steel plates and crushed stone.
Each platform have set of inputs (stations on the left) and set of outputs (stations on the right). Bots only belong to one platform, and no global drone network available.

This is example of biggest factory, that convert 4 angel ores, to 16 processable ores (iron, silver, N4, uranium, etc).
