Description:

• Calculates maximum consumption/production rates of machines selected by a selection tool.

LONG DESCRIPTION

Suppose you have a set of machines, to which you've added modules and surrounded by beacons. Assuming you can feed and take away input and output items from the machines as fast as possible, how can you calculate the maximum rate of items used and produced? You can look at the individual machine rates and production bonuses, and do some math, or you can use this mod.

The mod provides a selection tool (default hotkey is ctrl-n), which when used to select a set of machines, calculates the maximum possible rate of items consumed and produced by those machines. These rates are displayed in a GUI window on the left side of the Factorio window, in various rate units. Items which appear as both inputs and outputs have net change calculation shown as well. (Does not calculate actual rates.)

Includes module and beacon effects. It's not necessary to select the beacons, just the machines affected by them. Probably will not work with mods that add new beacon types.

For centrifuging uranium ore, it approximates the output, based on the probability and quantity range of results.

So, to use: Press <ctrl>-n, and you'll get a blue question mark cursor. Select one or more machines, and you'll see the rates in the upper left. The rates are shown in items per minute, but you can select a different rate unit in the dropdown, e.g. Express Transport Belts - and see the number of these belts needed to feed the machine.

Hey Jeff - awesome mod! I had a similar idea and posted in feature requests before I discovered your great work. After doing so, I had an idea of how your work might be refined to be even more useful. Please see the stuff there in the description after the list of benefits.

If the idea makes sense, and you'd like to see it implemented, maybe we could work together? I've tinkered a little with mods in the past, and with a little guidance from you I might be able to make the change.

I'm open to collaborating on Max Rate Calculator, or perhaps adding feature, but I don't quite understand what you're looking for. Feel free to have a look at the source code. https://github.com/JeffSpindler/Factorio-Mods I have a few local changes to do calculations on mining drills and pumpjacks, but haven't finished those changes - but they're pretty localized. (After a full day of work writing code, I haven't had quite the energy to put in the mod as I did when I was semi-retired. )

Looking at your feature request, I see it doing graphs over time and such - my mod just does a simple static analysis of what's possible given a set of machines.
