planning to go big is good, but you should also keep in mind for expansion in the future. One factor I keep running into is I often have to break down and rebuild my factories because I run out of space to add to certain areas like iron processing. it's this reason why I'm very much into the tree style format for my factories

I've used the end of my iron plate production to produce steel in the same line. All you have to do is flip the feed inserter to the FE plate side and then long arm the steel to an adjacent outbound line.

Many veterans argue that copper cable should be fed directly from 3 cable assemblers into 2 circuit assemblers to take advantage of stacking bonuses and avoid jambs on the transport belt.

Have you tried to find the best ratio for the processing steps?
f.e. what comes to my mind:
  • In my factory Oil is cracked in four refineries (one more than yours) and one heavy-light-oil-plant can't catch up with it. You have five :shock:
  • For four rafineries seven light-gas-plants are good and an 8th is for pulling down an existing overproduction. In your picture are nine to see and perhaps more.
  • One sulvar plant is more or less enough to keep up with the use of one sulfiric acid plant. If sulficir acid is constantly used there might be the need for a second sulfar plant. You have 5 (if my lubricant gets empty (the first 4 tanks are not even empty after >70h I switch my one plant to fill a tank up and put it back for light oil)
  • One sulfiric acid plant is enough to deliver what is needed (I have 6x batteries, 6x processing units and 2-6x plastic)
  • You have not a single buffer for sulfar and sulfiric acid.
  • Your smelters at the end have nothing to put their stuff on. Try to use two more tiles for an output chest and an additional inserter. As more stations the production line, the more traffic jams are created. This is true for your ore and your iron and steel and circuits and advanced circuits. At least the things that need a long time to produce (like advanced circuits) lose much time while waiting on a full output-line. Try to get 2 or 3 "stars". One requester, in each direction an assembler and then two providers for the four assemblers. Then the assemblers can work constantly as long as they get the material. Same is good for science (1 star red, 1 star green 2 stars blue and 1 or 2 single assemblers for alien) are good enough for an nearly equal output-rate (with some modules). Then there is no need to wait for the science labs and the overproduction can happen until it is needed.
