Coal to rocket fuel (Tileable+boosted)

I am running a big nuke plant and have plenty of coal and steam leftover. So why not turn it into rocket fuel?

The ratios arent totally nice, but according to helmod they are pretty close (everything fully boosted) , with 2 refineries supporting approximately 4 light->solid, 3 PG->solid, 1 heavy cracking, and 7 rocket fuel. Since 2 plants can fit in the vertical space of a refinery, this allows for a pretty neat stackable layout:

Image

Each set of 2 refineries converts 5.5k steam plus 1.1k coal into 107 rocket fuel per minute.

Steam is fed in lower right, water lower left. All solids are handled with bots, you could probably also use belts and use UG belts to cross the beacon line from solid to rocket fuel, but that might not be balances since the light fuel is boosted more than the PG fuel.

Would there be a net gain if you burned that rocket fuel instead of burning coal? My calculations show true, how is it?

Did you take into account the energy required to create the steam and the power draw of the plants and beacons?

Solid fuel from petro ?

Was that a question?

Why would you use petro to solid fuel.

best ratio is light to solid. not petro, not heavy.

Sure, if you actually need the PG. This setup is meant to be isolated from your main refinery and just convert coal+steam into rocket fuel.

Easy to transport petroleum with the liquid wagon tho.

Nice!

Looks like you've got a few heavy oil pipes in the lower middle that don't go anywhere.

Good catch :)

I moved the heavy from the bottom to the middle to make room for the substation, and forgot to clear out the bottom pipes.

I actually ended up not using this design but shipping steam to the refinery, easier to distribute the different liquids and the refinery needs coal anyway for plastic production...

Cool stuff. Does this run without backing up? Looks nice and isolated.
