My Factory

This is my first "completed" factory. I still haven't wrapped my head around trains. Also this is peace mode, I didn't like having to clear out enemies to expand. Once you get destroyer robots and mk2 armor etc it feels more like a chore than a challenge. Anyways here's some screen shots.

This is my initial setup. Had a difficult time fully saturating the smelting and green circuits though. I decided to expand and try to mass produce processing units and t3 modules.

Here's the smelting facility to the new expansion

Each line of ore is it's own source, no splitters

And here's the production line for t3 modules. Everything is fully saturated, no downtime!

The oil processing

And the electricity. Everything's using productivity and speed modules.

Thanks for checking out my factory!

That power graph looks just like mine... If I ignore the numbers on the axis. I wonder if there is some common ratio of solar to steam power that people naturally trend toward.

Do you really put copper cables on a belt to move them around? Have you tried routing plates and making them on the spot to see if it is more efficient?

I haven't tried that. I guess this way was just easier for me to visualize. I can keep expanding to the right, so i'll try that out. I'm wondering if i can squeeze in the red circuits on the same line as the green. Your method sounds easier to keep the ratios of materials in check.

If anyone else wants to post some screenshots of their green, red, blue circuit, t3 module production line, pls do!

Maybe something more like this? Is this what you mean?

That is literally what I was refering to. You will probably find much better throughput of circuits, assuming a full supply of plates, this way.

Very nice! I wonder if you could show the production rate of all the products.

one green circuit assembly produces enough for several advanced circuit and processing unit assemblies. on the other hand, one copper wire assembly is not enough for one green circuit assembly. I guess you could improve this design by turning some of your green circuit factories into cable factories.

otherwise, a nice design!

one constantly producing green circuit assembler is good for 8 adv circuits, same for copper wire. (assuming everything is using the same type of assemblers)

Here's the end of the production line with two t3 module assemblers. I made it a little more blueprint friendly.
Image
There are 26 red assemblers, needed speed modules to keep up. 60 green and 14 blue assemblers, probably too many of these. And 54 copper wire assemblers.

Here's the production/consumption tab per minute
Image
Ive got to re-saturate some of the copper lines.

Anyone know the ratio of stuff needed for t3 modules. I'm guestimating 30 red assemblers, 50 green, 10 blue, eight t1, four t2 = two t3?

So you can produce roughly 1 rocket defense in every 10 minutes?

You are producing some other stuff so one can't see how many t3 modules you're outputting per minute but with 33 t1 speed modules/m it can't be more than 2 t3 speed modules/m and with 59 t1 productivity modules/m it cant be more than 3 t3 prod modules/m.

Nevertheless a tremendous factory and a very impressive production rate.

The expansion supports about three T3's a minute. The original base is about one T3/min.

Huge factory!
