Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')

It's very far zoomed out, because there is not much to see really, just a bunch of belts going everywhere and a very unorganised base
I'll improve it as i go, it was even worse before xD
I am very proud of it even though it looks horrible and very unorganised
Any suggestions for this? See anything I should not be doing?

a water pump can support up to 10 steam engines. Your one-engine one-pump set up is wasting valuable waterfront property!

Whoa, really? O_O Thanks for that tip, I'll have to see about setting up pipes to replace them
It is such a mess, now that I take a look at it from a distance XD
Random buildings plonked down left and right xD

you can use the two sides of a belt separately for different items, for example red and green science packs, so you don't need these huge belt construction to feed the labs. just run by one belt with both types of flasks and you're good.

Inserters tends to OUTPUT items on far side of th belt so you can use other side for different stuff.
Also usuall set up for power is 1 pump + 14 boilers + 12 engines, those should be ok to work at 100% load. Also to fully take advantage of one pipe you can use 1.5 pumps therefore 2.

Heh, I was thinking about making a kind of similar post with a section of my first oil-based factory.
It is by now a complete chaos, and I love every bolt of it.
This first spaghetti factory was at the end able to build robots on automatic, so my next step was to build a hightech 'von NeuMann' factory.
and with information added:
I'm happy with the combination of belts for the mostly used items, and provicer/requester chests for rare objects and end products, - but it is also dull as dish water, and feels like real work to setup.
So all followers of the Spaghetti Monster. Walk proud!
It is fun and rewarding to overcome trouble, - but good design shield you from such.
(I will show more of my 'von Neumann' designs, as soon as the assemblers can actually manufacture everything.
)

You have some of the weirdest factories that I have ever seen. Seriously, you need a roboport factory?

Thank you.
It is actually my first 'roboport factory', and I really need it due to the 20 or so different products it should be able to offload into a single car:
The goal is to drive away with a blueprint in the pocket and exactly everything needed to replicate the factory in the trunk (currently not possible).
My first 'von Neumann' attempt 'works' in the sense that it does create everything needed to replicate it:
But you will have to manually walk around and collect the bits, and without a roboport, then you will also have to build the copy yourself.

I think the devs said they're going to fix the tier3 assembly machine to accept 5 (or even 6?) ingredients. Then you can build everything in assembly machines. however, you will have to produce advanced circuits and speed modules, which requires the whole oil industry. So making a reasonably small auto-replicating factory will not be possible anyway, which is a pity.

It will very much be part of the competition to make a replicating factory as small as possible.
I already need most of the oil-factory to to make robots, so this is the eastern part of the hightech factory.
It was all spawned from the 4 belts and 2 pipes with basic resources.
(The reason for the long 'stone and brick' belt is to bring the stuff within the area of the single ropoport, as those use so much energy.)

When you have a base with 50+ roboports you'll also have them made in an assembler

Wow, so many replies
I restarted, because i was overrun by biters eventually, but my new 'base' was a bit too undefended and got overrun

C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Roaming\Factorio\saves
There you go
Also, there's a link to that folder in your factorio program folder.
