The problem with all these balancers is that they don't work well when the inputs and outputs are imbalanced.

If you're referring to how the balancers don't redirect stuff if one of the outputs is cut off, that's because they're all meant for continuous throughput just like Madzuri's are.

Otherwise, I don't know what you mean by the inputs and outputs being imbalanced.

Yip that's what I mean.

I've added updated 2 to 6 splitters. Also works as 3 to 6 with the unused input.

Two new designs.

First is an update to my previous smart (now filter) inserter setup which makes it a little smaller and uses fewer belts.

The second is a bot-based advanced circuit assembly build with beacons and full productivity modules. The math on it ends up being 8 * 1.4 = 11.2, which means the non-productivity ratios of 1 copper cable and 1 electronic circuit assembler to 8 advanced circuit assemblers becomes 1 copper and 1 electronic to 11 advanced.

I went and made my own sets of balancers for 1-4 to 1-8.

4 to X:

Credits to Madzuri and Mazzo89 for many of these, though I've heavily modified a number of them.

Very nice. I think those might be some of the most compact 5-out balancers I've ever seen.

Thanks Mehve! Though I should give credit to Mazzo89 for the 4 to 5 design. That one still makes my head explode.

I've fixed the ones that had problems, and uploaded all the non-trivial designs to FactorioPrints. See https://factorioprints.com/user/BYtZzhs ... T5QVzYVIq1 for the uploads.

I'll be using Factorioprints for the foreseeable future since factorioblueprints kinda exploded.

love your contraptions Jack. should have thanked you ages ago.
now i'm wondering with the changes to 0.15.7 "Increased the underground belt length (basic, fast, express) from 5,5,5 to 5,7,9."
what you will come up with balancer wise? :)

Well, I did end up making this inline 6 to 6 balancer, but a problem with it is putting 6 full belts into it results in a little less than 6 belts out. The splitter item memory coupled with the loop means it derps a bit.

I also need to make an update on those balancers above since several are not count perfect and that's the minimum I would like to strive for. Throughput unlimited might or might not be bothered with, but if I can reasonably make it small then I will.

Jackalope, any chance of updating your blueprint strings to 0.15.*?
i tried updating your 16 lane balancer with Convert Layouts, but it's giving me the following error.

Code: Select all

Unknown entity name: express-stansport-belt-to-ground
Key "signal" not found in property tree at ROOT.blueprint.icons[0]
[edit] i rebuilt your 16 lane balancer with a couple of tweaks.
removed 2 undergrounds that were no longer needed (0.15 underground reach bonus)
also put an underground in to remove a long stretch of belt.

hope i didn't screw it up. :?
