Hullo!

So, hear's the idea. The goal is build enough furnaces, with enough ore input to continously run all of them at a rate of 1,000,000 plates/sec. The only catch is, you have to make it as small as possible.

You can take this as far as you want, but just setting up something for iron smelting would be fine. 1,000,000 steal/sec would still be quite impressive, however. And of course, if you go for steel, the only inputs can be raw iron ore and fuel, should you choose to use steel furnaces.

Also, if this isn't unreasonable enough, I've always wondered how beafy of a computer you need for 1 billion plates/sec.

Edit: Realized 100 plates/sec is incredibly easy, usually my production rate at starting trains, so thought i might take people's suggestions.

Here is a save which produces 861 iron plates by second. I guess if you remove 7/8 of the iron smelting part, you'll get to around 100 plates/sec

This big setup: http://i.imgur.com/RnIMSXM.jpg makes over 5000 plates per minute (http://i.imgur.com/Az7kNl8.jpg) with nothing but tier 1 speed modules in the beacons. If i would put tier 3s in the small setup it could probably make 6k per minute.

I wonder if OP meant 1,000,000 plates per minute. Now that's an actual challenge.

This smelting setup has the capacity to fully load 4 express belts (120 items per second)

Hmm yea I think like 100k plate a minute is a reasonable challenge.
