Trees and grass don't match the region

I like playing on maps that exclusively use Sand terrain for that desert planet feel. I noticed when I do this (by setting all other terrain sizes to None) with RSO, the base terrain is desert but there'll be tons of grass on top of it, and the trees are regular green trees instead of the dead and dry desert trees.

Is there some configuration option I'm missing here?

I have no idea whats happening but RSO doesn't touch terrain generation.
If you set up same stuff without RSO it works properly?

I generated a couple of new maps with the settings I used, and as it turns out everything works exactly the same as with RSO enabled. I guess the first couple of vanilla maps I did before with these settings that wound up having less greenery were just luck of the draw (I didn't expand too far out in those games).

So yeah, nothing to see here after all.
