Gfx feedback

Post by EldVarg »

I love your graphics. You are a nice 3d artist.

Here are some feedback on the sprites. Many have jitter and too black shadows. Would be sweet if you could fix things like this:

* Sol-Ray - Frame without rays at night - make it brighter and brighter the more sun it has. Dark shadow.
* Speacial drill - Animation vibrates - especially on the left side - the transparency. Very dark shadow.
* 0.8-SS-Turbine-S - Animation jumps up and down 1 pixel, might be intentional - also some animation jitter.
* 1.8-MS-Turbine-S - Jitter in animation - too much compression?
* Big Advanced Accumulator - Charging have too much contrast (compare to fully charged).

Hello all.
I work on this problem too. Soon I present to mr.Yuoki result of my work that will contain improved visual quality, minimal jitter and high compression of main GFX. Size will be a little bigger than now, but quality will be best. Not so much free time now, but work is going on! Stand by.

i try to remove jitter with a different anti-aliasing option in rendering. but makes the resulting pictures less sharp and crisp.
i'am also not sure why the renderer jitters the ambient occulusion from frame to frame if a small part moved that should't affect.

You dont need to do your images less sharp and crisp. Better give it to me because i think i find the solution.

I spend LOT of time and find this brand new method to do spritesheet less jittering in motion on surfaces that need to be static. If i understand right, then please explore and check/test ingame this post-processed image ive done. Jitter in all this sprites is gone, quality of image is still very high (compare it!) and image size is reduced insanely -93,5% from 3477 Kb (orig file from yi_engines_0.6.27) to 226 Kb (in spoiler) :
Postproduction
I almost complete redone all of your graphics, Yuoki, to this new way. It will have max quality, minimal jittering on static segments of sprites and minimalest size ever. Soon will post more info. What you think about this results?
