You can define points and areas in the areas and positions tab. When you create one, it is automatically selected. You can deselect it by pressing the clear cursor key. Unlike other key combinations, this one isn't noted in the point/area tab tooltip. There is no visible relation between selected point/area and the cursor either, so it is unintuitive to guess either.

Thanks for the report. I am not considering those tooltips need to mention obvious key combinations like the "clear cursor" binding.

It's not obvious that something is in cursor so it can be cleared. So I think it deserves a mention.
