[0.16.16] Crash loading map after disabling mod on: "Invalid index 66 for Direction"

I wanted to use creative mod to create a map for multiplayer vanilla with certain technologies researched and some starting options. I created and saved the map with no issues, then disabled
the creative mode mod and the game restarted. When I then loaded the map, the game crashed. I then tried updating creative mode, and was able to reload and resave the map with no issues, but when I disabled creative mode again, the game crashed again on map load.

My whole mods folder was 297MB so I won't post that, but all the mods were in the disabled state other than creative mode, which I've been toggling on and off. I've tested it with an empty mods folder (just creative mode), saving and loading with creative mode on, then disabling creative mode and attempting to load the map, and I get the same issue. I'm attaching creative mode v0.0.17.

Ok, I looked into it and there's a much bigger problem that this is exposing.

For now, if you want to keep playing you can do one of the following:
  • Delete your blueprint storage.dat
  • Load the game with the mod(s) and manually remove any entities added by the mod(s) from the blueprint library
