Reproducible.

Here is what I do:

I start Steam up and then launch Factorio. If I go to load a game, the screen hangs for about 5-7 seconds and then the application exits with no error code or message. Steam is also terminated.
This is also the case when a game moves to autosave. There is a brief hang, then the application exits with no feedback. Steam is, again, terminated.

Solved [16.16] crashes on Ubuntu 16.04.

I figured I would come in and update this thread with a solution.

Running Steam from the following preload solves the issue entirely:

LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2" steam
Based on the amount of recent posts I've seen about lib failures, I thought it might be prudent to update this.

Yes, we had some shared library issues in .16, but those should be fixed now. Does it still crash for you on the latest release? The Steam version works fine for me.
