Keyboard layout selection on Ubuntu 17.10 broken?

Post by amikula »

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 17.10. I use Dvorak keyboard layout. In the previous version of Ubuntu, Factorio would use whatever keyboard layout was active at the time I launched Factorio.

Now, it seems that no matter what I do, Factorio uses the first keyboard layout in the system, regardless of which one is active. I've worked around this by setting US QWERTY as my default layout in Ubuntu, but this is not ideal.

Is there another way to select a different layout in Factorio on Ubuntu 17.10?

It could be a Gnome thing. I have the same "issue" running arch linux (I actually see it as a feature because I don't have to worry about my keyboard being in Qwerty when I launch factorio).

When you do a search (or type into a text box) does it type in Dvorak or in Qwerty? (For me it types in Dvorak.)

I don't think this is a factorio related issue, so I'm going to close the report.
this: https://askubuntu.com/a/146734 might be of use though
