So, I ran into a usability problem with using fluid wagons. My typical rail build out order is:
- Build train station
- Drop loco on tracks
- Drop rolling stock behind.
- Hook up inserters/pumps.
With plain cargo wagons, this recipe works pretty well, especially if I don't need to put a maximum load and/or unload capacity on the cargo wagon. However, with the precise alignment characteristics of fluid wagons this recipe doesn't work the same way anymore: I now have to add an additional step of adjusting my train position to get the fluid wagon to line up. Here's some screens of my flow:
1. Placing loco
2.Placing Fluid Wagon
3. Adjusting train
So it seems to me like the only way to make fluid wagons work right is if my loco "snaps" to the proper position on the station automatically. The fluid wagon's automatic snap to the loco will easily follow suit, although I can see use cases where someone may want to snap a fluid wagon directly to a position so they can start to get their tanker loaded while adding the train (for when time is of the essence!).

Thanks for the report,
However this isn't much of a bug as it stands,
So i will move it to ideas and suggestions
We are aware that we need to make some usability improvments in regards to the fluid wagon and how it works,
Which we will probably address in 0.16
