It is possible for a player to be able to start researching an unlocked technology, but which requires science packs of a certain color which can not be crafted; and there is no help for the user. Take the new science level 3 (blue science) packs. The new 0.15 recipe according to a FFF-159 requires red circuits, which in turn require petroleum products. So if the player has not yet researched petroleum and the other descendant technologies needed to make red circuits then it is impossible to make any blue science packs; however several other technologies can become unlocked and available for research in the tech-tree which require blue science.

What makes this worse, especially for a new player, is there there is no way to learn how to make the needed blue science packs. It does not appear in the player's crafting menu, nor is there any recipe for any of the research packs on the tech tree. It seems that either technologies requiring science packs the user can't make should not be unlocked, or the tech tree or other help should be provided so the player can learn how to make the various colored science packs ... without having to look it up in FFF-159.

More user help would be useful for the other science packs too. The new military science packs require turrets and grenades. Perhaps the "Effects" line under each of those items should show the military science pack as an effect; though as there are multiple dependencies it's a lattice and not a tree.

Tech tree has a search function.
If you enter science pack name there it will show you tech that unlocks the pack and recipe is visible there also by mouse over.
Some direct warning from game could be useful - at least first time when you switch research. This would belong to suggestions forum not bugs then.
