Mod hosting site proposal
Mod hosting site proposal
Hi,
im very active in the Kerbal Space Program Community and have recently taken over the largest Mod hosting site for it called SpaceDock (former KerbalStuff).
Since im playing a fair bit of Factorio im wondering if the Factorio community would be interrested in an instance of spacedock.info for Factorio.
The site would be like the one for ksp have no ads, no premium bullshit and be financed by donations and community man(and women)hours.
Greetings
VITAS

Re: Mod hosting site proposal
Our own mod portal is coming (with ingame integration), so this will soon not be necessary.
Re: Mod hosting site proposal
Most of the people working on spacedock are working in IT and we are running a worldwide cdn. in order to make "soon" something like next week i would offer my help with your official mod hosting project. Else im happy to fill the gap.

I finished my work on the mod hosting site for Factorio:
http://spacedock.info/factorio
you can upload mods there now if you like.

Re: Mod hosting site proposal
Seems like yet another bells and whistles add board with content cramped in instead of adds.
No no tags, no categories, no useful search.
People surely are forgetting what "mod database" means.

I do mods. Modding wiki is friend, it teaches how to mod. Api docs is friend too...
I also update mods, some of them even work.
Recently I did a mod tutorial.

Re: Mod hosting site proposal
We also have factoriomods.com currently.
Re: Mod hosting site proposal
Why is one of your "developers pick/featured mod" spots filled with a mod that's an entire major version # behind? Even as a placeholder that's sloppy, considering the number of up to date mods. If you 'can't set it to .12' then you're saying Mod developers can't even update what version they support?
Plus, we both already have a mod site that integrates the mod forums here, and one of the actual game developers told you this was not needed and that mods are going to be integrated into the game, rendering a mod-search site completely obsolete. So why, exactly, did you still go through with this?
