Replace blueprint contents preserving icon+name

When building up a blueprint library, I often end up needing to make small tweaks to an existing blueprint, like move an item a bit or change some combinator settings. Currently, the process for that is rather annoying: I place down the old blueprint, to my adjustments, then make a new blueprint, manually adjust icons and text to be like in the old blueprint, and delete the old blueprint. That can easily happen 5 times in a row.

This process would be a lot smoother if there was a way to replace the contents of a blueprint while preserving icons and name. I am imagining something like a button in the blueprint window that closes the window and turns the mouse cursor into the usual blueprint selection rectangle, and then after making the selection, the blueprint window pops up again with the same icons and name as before, but the new blueprint content.

I absolutely agree. I wished for a feature like this a lot of times.

"Oh, forgot a detail before I made the final blueprint of this facility. Damn, now I have to write the descriptive name and set the icons again."

Because of this, for longer, descriptive texts, I resided to write them in an external text editor and have them at the ready there.

This has actually been implemented in the latest blueprint overhaul. :-)
