Simply a turret that fires tank cannon shells. Superior range and power, slow rate of fire, kinda expensive ammo.

Seems like a natural extension of the current turrets.

it sounds expensive, but I think I like this idea, especially if stronger enemies are going to be added some time in the future.

I wonder if it would be appropriate to have a later upgrade to turrets that allows them to use other types of ammo than the normal magazines, that would extend the current functionality to include tank rounds rather than creating an entirely new turret.

Or even an artillery cannon to bomb the hives from distance. But that would be way too overpowered

I suggest a large 2x2 turret with a slightly higher rate of fire than the normal tank turret in order to be able to compete with laser turrets.
