Give Splitters a Seperation Mode

At the moment splitting a two-sided belt into 2 one-sided belt is very ugly (see first GIF: http://imgur.com/a/GsxT9)

So here is my suggestion:
Make a seperation mode for splitter. Clicking on it opens UI. Like a smart inserter.

- Easy to program
- no new building required

Give Splitters a Chance!

I've been using that mod for quite a while now and I think it's great. But a splitter with Smart Inserter filter would do so much more. It could act as a sorter, lane reverser and so many other possibilities. It doesn't even need to filter 5 different things like the Smart Inserter, one item on left and one item on right is plenty. Imagine the logistics possibilities with red and green wires as well - such as " < 50" goes right else go straight. Yes it can be done with smart inserters now, but the delay in the arm swinging around affects the throughput. This is what I imagine the GUI like:

I agree with turtle.

I was going to ask for the feature but you are already talking about it. With filter mode maybe green splitter were really nice.

Check out my Smart Splitters mod, it pretty much does what you're describing here.

It still surprises me this isn't a core part of the game yet.

Taking advantage of the two-lane belt system is as easy as feeding belts onto the sides, yet trying to split them requires arcane mechanics exploits with, of all unrelated things, tunnels.
