The news forum lists all the updates, and the updates forum discusses all the news.

I agree.

Though to be fair, "news" lists all the new versions, and "updates" lists the weekly updates about development.

I said this just when the two sections came out, but it makes sense both ways

+1 to this idea

"News" shows game updates, while "Updates" gives us weekly updates on what currently going on (like a news feed does)

I think something must have got lost in translation.

Edit: Maybe just at least rename the news section? The section is layed out by version ffs. I don't really see how a version history is "the news".

It shall better not change their RSS feed IDs.....

Also: I think I'm gettin both of those mixed up in https://forums.factorio.com/forum/feed.php?f=3

EDIT: Yes, I think I am....
Oh wait.. I got only per-post subscription to the "new version"-topic.

The other one is covered only by the all-topics subscription, which is actually fine.
One item per new ffff is just right.

It wouldn't. subforum IDs are a pure number. Ideally, all they need to do is rename forum f=3 to updates, and forum f=38 to news.
