Different robots

In the research tree there are logistics robot upgrades for speed and cargo but they are automatically applied to the existing robots. There may be more flexibility if there were different robots sort of like how there are different inserters. Say you want certain materials to get places faster than other just use a default robot and a fast robot. If you need more materials in one location than in another use a heavy carrier robot. I think this could add a level of flexibility to end game factories :)

what about afinal robot research tree of "Guard Robot"
they'd be slower, but have more health and they'd have a 1 item cargo, but they'd be equipped with a pistol, made with a pistol, a logistics robot and some steel (maybe a chip as well)

less health than a turret and crappy rate of fire, but it can move and guard the logistics robots paths while working.

im thinking that they should be made weak enough that it takes 5-6 of them together to kill a single creeper without being damaged. This way it stops them from just being a more expensive version of moving turrets closer to an enemy base...

how about a smart robot? a robot that automatically gives items to machines that need them
