I frequently like to check out the mod portal in-game. Sorting by downloads is a great way to find new gems. The problem is that installing a mod requires reloading the modlist, but Factorio doesn't remember the sorting option, so it always loads the alphabetical modlist.
Current behavior:
Mods -> Install mods
Wait for alphabetical modlist to load
Sort by downloads
Wait for sorted modlist to load
Install mod
Wait for alphabetical modlist to load
Sort by downloads
Wait for sorted modlist to load
Install mod
...
Desired behavior:
Mods -> Install mods
Wait for alphabetical modlist to load
Sort by downloads
Wait for sorted modlist to load
Install mod
Wait for sorted modlist to load
Basically, when loading the modlist, Factorio should remember if the player sorted the previous listing, so the player doesn't have to load it twice.

Re: Mod Portal: Remember Sorting
Not sure if I should open a new thread because it isn't directly related to the idea.
Sorting could also be enhanced if it was done on the game (client) side rather that on the server side. Even with a decent connection, the response time is desastrous for a simple sorting.
Edit after aubergine18's reply: Oh well, I'll post a new thread then.

Better forum search for modders: Enclose your search term in quotes, eg. "font_color" or "custom-input" - it prevents the forum search from splitting on hypens and underscores, resulting in much more accurate results.
