Curved Rail pieces rotation order

TL;DR: Curved rail rotation is too random.

When placing curved rails, if we try to rotate they follow that order:

This always gives me a headache, because of the weird pattern. See how random these positions are:

Notice that sequential pieces cannot even connect to each other. For example, 1 can never connect to 2. I always have to press R many times before the desired piece comes.

Why isn't the rotiation order more like that?

It would make it a lot easier to quickly place curves or rings.

Bonus request: Shift+R should rotate pieces counterclockwise (not only rails but all items on the game).

I agree.

But for now, one thing I've been doing is just keep a blueprint of a quarter-circle rail arc in my inventory (curve, one straight segment, curve). It doesn't help when you have to place a single curve, but most of the time I make 90 or 180 turns in my tracks. This makes it super easy (both since the straight segment is already present as well as since the blueprint will rotate nicely 90 degrees clockwise each time).

A) That's already suggested
B) Is already implemented for v0.13 by removing the need. See FFF https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-113

Moved to implemented.

Thanks!

Any word on Shift+R to rotate things counterclockwise?

Look into that: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=19953 New types of rails (curves, s-curves ...)
I'm sure you will find it. :)
