Multiplayer overhaul

I'm new to the forums, so I don't know if there's any information on this or if this has been said before etc.
So in my opinion the multiplayer coop really needs work, I cannot play multiplayer with my friend due to all the port forwarding and the technical stuff, I get that it's hard to develop a fully fleshed out multiplayer section but the game would be so much more fun in my opinion if I could join random people, find people to play with on forums or just play with my friends.
If someone can tell me a simpler way than port forwarding to get multiplayer working than any help is appreciated.

If you install the Evolve gaming VPN program, then you and your friend just need to form a party and connect to the private IP address you'll see in the party group next to their name. No forwarding/etc needed.

I understand that there are various 3rd party programs I can use, BUT it would just be really convenient if the game just had it built in, I don't really trust those programs anyway

Sorry, when you asked for a simpler way I thought that's what you meant. :)

It's fine, I did mean something like that but I was hoping for a way that doesn't involve using those programs, thanks for the reply anyway though :)

The simple reason that it is like it is, is that this isn't simple. :)
