When an Alert Comes Up Clicking it takes you to the map.
So when an Alert comes up clicking it will take you to the spot and zoom in on it or at least zoom to a closer layer for you to spot it easily.
I'm finding the further I expand out the more and more I can't actually find where the alerts are coming from having more and more outposts.
Thanks

Also don't scale the icons on the map with the map.
They become very hard to find on max zoom

I completely agree, this would be very useful.

+1 I always try to click on them because it would make sense >.<

Good idea. I add:
When an new alert comes in,
- alert sound comes
- after 1/2 to 1 second the minimap changes to the target.
- The minimap shows then also your current position, if you are not on that map. This helps to localize the position of the event a lot.
- after 1 or 2 seconds the minimap changes back to normal.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

There's been previous posts on improving alerts: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=6110
I don't have OCD, I have CDO. It's the same, but with the letters in the correct order.

Re: When an Alert Comes Up Clicking it takes you to the map.
I've always liked games that have a cinematic camera next to minimap. An example game would be Star Trek: Armada.
Basically, an extra window same size as minimap next to it that shows things of interest ie when a new unit was created it would show the ship coming from the shipyard.
What I especially liked about it was when battles were happening, it would always focus on them and you could click it to move the camera directly to where the battle was happening. Obviously this wouldn't work for factorio as the camera is bound to the character, but it could open the map instead like OP's suggestion.

Thanks ssilk. You are always doing such a good job.
Re: When an Alert Comes Up Clicking it takes you to the map.
Do I understand your suggestion correctly when I say that, if your minimap is open when the alert comes up, the minimap view will automatically change to the location of the alert after a short delay? Because that sounds exceedingly interruptive and annoying to me (you probably have the minimap open for some purpose, which would then be interrupted by the alert).ssilk wrote:Good idea. I add:

A firm +1 to the suggestion to have the alert be clickable, which would open the minimap on the location of the event that triggered the alert, though.
