Changing/checking tiles with the lua code

It would be pretty usefull (for worldgen and other stuff) for you to be able to change tiles with the code, or check what is the tile in a specific position.
I have been thinking about this feature a lot of time, but im not sure if it is possible how tiles seem to work now.

It is on our todo list. I suppose it will come in 0.7.x.

So ... this functionality has been delayed, but it is prepared for 0.9 already.
