Map-preview saving for headless

Would be wonderful to be able to save map images on headless.
I understand screenshots won't work because it doesn't have the sprites.
But currently, as far as I know map previews can only be generated when creating a new map.
It would be lovely to have, because we could use them as a preview for our web-control panel for reverting to older saves, and to see map progress and more easily undo troll/griefer damage.
